I am a graduate nurse of Zamboanga General Hospital School of Nursing (ZGHSN), Philippines. I have a degree in BSN, PG Public Health Administration, Masters in Psychology and an ongoing Masters in Nursing/MBA Health Administration to my credit.
I consider myself fortunate to have been presented with the opportunities to explore the different facets of the nursing profession in the different countries I’ve worked. With each culture were experiences and lessons which only real life can teach us.
From the rural areas of Zamboanga City, in the Philippines, I have grown professionally from a nurse serving the rural poor, to a clinical nurse of hospitals in Saudi Arabia, to a teacher of nursing in India and to a nursing administrator in Bangladesh and India again as I am today and throughout this period, bringing changes and introducing new systems to provide for patients’ comfort and to help make the care providers’ lives easy and comfortable. I am presently based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
As I embarked towards this career path, I have come across nursing issues which were felt by a majority to be better left unsaid. I honestly feel that nurses are a brave lot, ever willing to serve
the needy, most often, without concern for their personal well-being.
Time is changing and changing fast. Technology is turning the world upside down and the same
old nursing issues remain and so is the sacrifice. And so is the silence.
There is a family to run, children to feed, self-development to take care of. Inasmuch as I belong
to the brigade who nurses without complaints, I find myself one day unable to shut out from a responsibility which to my opinion, every one should rally behind.
Nursing issues need to be addressed and resolved. I understand that one cannot fight the system
but one can certainly raise an issue if only to raise an awareness so that the people who matters may wake up, if not now, at least for the next generation of nurses. And that, the nurses which are very badly needed by their countries need not feel the need to go elsewhere for a few dollars more.
I run a website, NurseCorner.Com, whose purpose is to educate the public so that they may send their children to
nursing schools. So that society may have more nurses. So that our loved ones and countrymen are
well cared for in times of sickness and distress. Where else and who else can they turn to?
I have this belief that through this e-medium, the message of NurseCorner will spread and it is with hope that I implore the readers to support the cause I am espausing; that of nursing, the profession and the legitimate rights of the nurses to be respected as one. I would expect the nurses most especially to rally behind this cause.
I would like to share with the readers a view of my first ever video campaign and an honest
